Margaux Ruyant Ski Touring

I was born and raised in Lille (FR). After getting my Associate Degree in International Business, I decided to follow a Design course, during which I had the opportunity to live in India for two years. I was intern in various European cities: Barcelona, Munich, then Sallanches, from where I moved here in Chamonix.

What do you like at BLUE ICE
After working for big companies where the designer job is often limited to products aesthetics, I was happy to join a smaller structure like BLUE ICE where I daily widen my technical expertise and explore new aspects of my job (ergonomics, pattern making, product & fabric testing, dealing with suppliers...). I have a lot of responsibilities and freedom and I do appreciate this trust.

Your own definition of the "mountain" word
Meeting "Mother Nature". I need this escape, this is what keeps the balance in me. It puts me back to my place and reminds me what's essential.

Your mountain specialty
Freerid skiing & ski touring in winter; cycling and hiking in summer.

Your best memory in the mountains
Our multi-days hiking family trips when I was Young, with these nights in hut and these wild places, without a single human print. Into the wild...

Your worst memory in the mountains

That day when my father took the wrong path and got us lost. We climbed a spire, walked on a glacier with no Equipment, my little brother roped with our dog leash... We walked 12 hours, I was 10 years old.

A mountain ritual

I'm quite stupid with this, as I'm superstitious: whenever I plan to go ski down an exposed couloir, I like to put on my Lucky charm brief (but this should stay between us...). I also always keep an "tiger eye" my mum gave me.

Your favorite BLUE ICE product

The WhiteTiger 35L of course, my trusty companion!

Your dream route
Chamonix-Zermatt ski trip, and of course the coulée du Grand Bronze.

A climber who inspired you
Marco Siffredi, and Buddha

Your motto
Dare the best of your life, because no one will do it for you.

Your favorite spot for

Hiking: The place known as the "Miroir" with its lakes mirroring the surrounding mountains. I love this optical illusion.
Rock climbing: Finale in Italy, with friends.
Ski touring: Tricky choice... I love especially the trips around Vallorcine, towards Switzerland
A favorite hut: The refuge de Plan Glacier, with stunning sunsets and a damn good tartiflette !
