Jonathan Crison

I was born in Echirolles (FR), and live now in Méaudre, Vercors Plateau. I'm a mountain guide and National Technical advisor for the FFME.
As a mountain guide, I work both independantly and for the Tignes-Val d'Isère Guide office. For the FFME, I mainly take care of the indoor climbing department, supervise the "le Roc Aventure Programme" (initiative to promote big wall and trad climbing amonst sport climbing competitors), and take care of crags bolting.

What do you like at BLUE ICE
The brand spirit, the minimalisme, and the road we've covered together since the early days...

Youw own definition of the "mountain" word

A perfect playground for exploring, playing and sharing.

Your mountain specialty

This is a way too intimate question to answer completely... I would say rock climbing and eating sweets at the belays.

Your best memory in the mountains

Difficult to say, as there are so many ! They're often linked to expéditions, for the extended moments we live then.

Your worst memory in the mountains
An encounter with a touchy icy section, while ice climbing in Norway, but luckily everything went well in the end. Also forgetting my rock shoes and realizing it once at the foot of the route is never fun...

A mountain ritual

A direct consequence of the above incident: I always pack my pack one last time before going climbing. And always take with my an Abalakov hook !

Your favorite BLUE ICE product

No hesitation: the Warthog.

Your dream route

The Dawn Wall in a day !

A climber who inspires you
Gaston Rebuffat, for his vintage side and his dreamy vision of the mountain...

Your motto

No arms, no chocolate.

Your favorite spot for

Rock climbing: Verdon for the unique peaceful and freedom spirit of the place

Ice climbing: Norvège, to go ice climbing near the sea and replacy cereal bars by salmon

Ski touring: Haute Tarentaise, for the endless potential

A favorite hut: the Glacier Carré, facing the Meije South Face: very good bivy for two!
