Born in Alaska (US) and raised in Colorado, I’ve spent most of my life in the mountains. I studied Mechanical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and moved to Utah shortly after graduation to start my career in outdoor product design.
What do you like about BLUE ICE
The people and the vision. We are a passionate, diverse, and quirky group coming together to make honest functional gear for the activities we all love.
Your own definition of the word “mountain”
A place in nature that humbles and inspires me.
Your mountain specialty
Bringing the best snacks and a positive attitude when the going gets tough. I love any excuse to spend time in the mountains, so I split my time between too many sports to specialize in one.
Your best memory in the mountains
Hard to pick one, I’ve had so many great days with great people in great places. A few that stand out:
-My first day in the desert: we drove through the night from another state, arriving in the dark. I woke up at sunrise to a view of the Fisher Towers (UT). We climbed Ancient Art that morning, which still remains one of the most spectacular climbs I’ve ever done.
-Summiting Capitol Peak (CO): perfect blend of suffering, getting scared, good company, and amazing scenery.
Your worst memory in the mountains
I seem to enjoy sufferfests/type 2 fun, my epics have been pretty tame, and I’ve been extremely fortunate not to lose any friends to the mountains, so no ‘worst’ memory for me.
A mountain ritual
Finding ways to give back to the outdoor community and the mountains. I love sharing my passion for the outdoors through educating the next generation of climbers/skiers and helping maintain/protect outdoor areas for future use.
